NSW hairdresser of the year finalist

Achievement

Exciting news was revealed back in August that salon director Daniel had been nominated as a finalist for the Australian Hair Fashion Awards. This exciting achievement was welcomed after months of hard work and planning went into this competition.

The Australian Hair Fashion Awards (AHFA) is Australia’s largest, longest running and most successful independent hairdressing awards program; dedicated to annually awarding and celebrating the best of Australian/New Zealand’s talent in the Hair Fashion industry.

The program has been growing steadily each year, and attracts hundreds of entries from salons and individuals across Australia and New Zealand.  Entries are judged by a panel of international industry professionals, each of whom brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the judging process.

The particular category Daniel entered required him to create a compilation of 6 images that portrayed his skill set in regards to hairdressing. Whilst he is no stranger to competition work, he has never entered for this high of a category. The collection features some beautiful and classic hair work including finger waves, bob haircuts, wig work and long hair styling.

The collection was shot with award winning photographer David Mannah. Daniel said that “working with David really helped push my creative skills outside the box. He demanded the best out of me and I couldn’t be more thankful”

We’ve since learned the fate of Daniels success and are disappointed not to be able to claim the title this year however it has left him hungry for more. The awards night took place in Melbourne over the weekend of the 17th October with all industry leaders coming together to celebrate this beautiful industry. Daniel said “I told myself from the get go that I wouldn’t win. I’ve been at the awards before and not heard my name, only to be devastated and ruin my night. With the pre-conceived idea that I wouldn’t be successful, it made it easier to accept the news and congratulate my friend Chris for taking the award”
