Reaching the 10-year mark in business naturally brings with it a moment of reflection. Over the past decade, one constant has defined us: we’ve always been a young team, with an average age of just 20.
Building a salon around growth and development, particularly for emerging artists, comes with its own perception challenges. At times, others have questioned the capability of young professionals — and that can shake confidence, not just in our team, but in our service.
But instead of shying away from that challenge, we’ve met it head-on.
We’ve built a culture where education is constant, standards are clear, and our service experience is designed to be valuable, inspiring, and deeply appreciated. These aren’t small expectations — but our team steps up, time and time again.
As I reflect on how far we’ve come, I find myself returning to the same question:
Why do I do this?
Why have I built a high-end salon in South West Sydney that focuses not just on great hair, but on meaningful careers?
At the core, my answer has never really changed:
I love hair.
I love this industry — one that still prioritises human connection in a world that’s becoming more digital by the day.
And I love leadership. I thrive when I see others grow, hit milestones, and come into their own.
It fills me with pride to watch young talent — full of passion and potential — join our salon, put their heart into their work, and leave their mark.
To go deeper, I ran a team session where we explored not just why I lead this business — but why they choose to do what they do. And what they shared reminded me that this work does matter. Every day.
